Tripick Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 19, 2026 · For the current Tripick iPhone app

Your photos stay on your device and in Apple Photos. Tripick does not upload photos to its servers or send them to third-party AI services.

Tripick reads and analyzes the photos you choose on your device. After you confirm, it creates or updates a curated album and marks the selected photos as favorites. When you open About Tripick, the app may fetch public release notes. That request does not include photos or photo-library information.

Your language choice (Chinese or English) is stored on your device and is not uploaded to Tripick.

Tripick and Apple Photos

Apple Photos may create its own Featured Collections and Memories using its own system features. Tripick does not read Apple's internal decisions for those features and does not replace or control them.

Tripick has a different purpose: you choose a trip album or select photos from All Photos, and Tripick uses on-device rules and image signals to prepare candidates for you to review. After you confirm, Tripick creates a new Photos album or adds the selected photos to an existing Tripick curated album. This album can coexist with Apple Photos Memories and other albums. Tripick does not claim to be a cloud AI service or guarantee that its selections are always better than Apple Photos.

1. What Tripick does not do

The current version does not include advertising, social features, or user-behavior analytics. The app accesses a public static release-notes document only when needed to display release information; that request does not collect user details.

2. Permissions Tripick needs

Tripick requests read and write access to Apple Photos so it can:

You can use Apple's limited photo-library access to allow only selected photos. If you deny access, Tripick will not read or change your photos.

3. How photo analysis works

  1. Choose a Photos album. If you choose All Photos, filter by All, This Week, or This Month, then select the photos for this run. You can select up to 100 photos at a time.
  2. Tripick groups photos into trip segments using capture time and location when available. Without location data, it falls back to capture time.
  3. On your device, Tripick uses small local previews and Apple Vision to compare visual similarity and considers image quality, burst representatives, face quality, image categories, and chronology.
  4. Tripick tries to choose representative photos across different times and places.
  5. Only after you confirm does Tripick create or update a curated album and mark the selected photos as favorites.

Photos do not need to be sent to Tripick servers or third-party AI services. Tripick uses Apple's on-device Photos and Vision features. On iOS 18 and later, it also uses the system's image-aesthetics score; on iOS 17, it uses compatible on-device Vision signals. Scores, image categories, and face-detection indicators in the review screen are generated locally.

4. iCloud Photos and network access

Tripick itself does not upload photos to the cloud. If a photo exists only in iCloud Photos and is not stored locally, Apple Photos may download the photo or a thumbnail to your device according to your system settings so Tripick can process it locally.

This is normal Apple Photos/iCloud behavior, not an upload by Tripick to its own servers. If iCloud Photos is enabled, changes to albums and favorites made in Apple Photos may sync to your other Apple devices according to your Apple settings.

5. Information processed by Tripick

During a curation, Tripick may process the following information on your device:

Tripick stores the local Photos identifier for albums it creates so it can recognize them later, including if you rename them. This identifier stays on your device and is not uploaded or used to identify you.

This information is used for curation on your device. Tripick does not send it to its servers or use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

6. You control your photos

Tripick writes to Photos only after you tap the confirmation button. It can create or reuse a curated album and mark selected photos as favorites. You can also rename a curated album in Tripick; renaming changes the album name only, not the photos or their favorite status.

Original photos remain in your library and original albums. Uninstalling Tripick does not delete your photos, remove a curated album, or automatically undo favorites. You can manage those items directly in Apple Photos. You can change or revoke Tripick's photo permission in system settings at any time.

7. Changes and contact

If a future version adds accounts, cloud services, syncing, or other privacy-impacting features, this policy will be updated before those features are enabled.
